Membership Information
Why should I consider joining MTABC? Who can join MTABC? How do I join?
If you own or operate a marine-related company that is located in Baltimore County or does business in Baltimore County, we would like to invite you to become a member of our organization. We currently have members that are marinas, attorneys, hotels, restaurants, boat dealers, accountants, towers, boat yards, boat brokers, water shuttles, interior designers, pile drivers, and many others. For a nominal annual membership fee, you can be a part of a group that has accomplished many things since its inception in 1988.
Since 1997, the MTABC . . .
- Established a reciprocal membership arrangement with the Baltimore County Convention and Visitors Bureau. MTABC also has a representative on the Board of Directors of BCCVB.
- Membership involvement on the Baltimore County “2010 Master Plan” committee to address waterfront issues into the future.
- Secured a commitment from Baltimore County to dredge Middle River and several of its tributaries in 1998 and 1999.
- Final passage of a favorable Abbreviated Water Dependent Facility Plan for minor marina expansions.
- Hold our Annual "Fireworks Extravaganza," seen by tens of thousands of people from their boats and from the shoreline.
- Creation and publication of our Membership Directory, which lists the goods and services of all MTABC members.
- Continued our annual tradition of awarding scholarships to local college-bound students.
- Were instrumental in establishing State legislation to ease a customer’s sales tax burden at the time of a boat purchase.
- Published our latest edition of the "Baltimore County Waterfront Guide". (For your free copy, please call 410-687-1002)
- Consulted with Secretary of Natural Resources and the State Boat Act Advisory Committee to establish new, responsible speed limits in Middle River to help insure the safety of all our boaters and area residents.
- Increased our college scholarship award as a result of the fund raising success of our Fireworks display.
- Established representation on the Governor's "Clean Marina Initiative" committee.
- Hold Boat Show at the annual Baltimore County Community Waterfront Festival.
- Hold Bull Roast and Crab Feast Fund Raisers for the Fireworks Display. Funds raised from the Fireworks go toward our annual college scholarship donation.
- Have kept the membership fully informed about developments in proposed legislation.
- Continue our county-wide shrinkwrap recycling program. When it started in 1996, this was the first of its kind in the US, and has been copied by many other jurisdictions since then.
